She completed an internship in clinical health psychology (APA accredited) and a two-year residency in neuropsychology and rehabilitation psychology at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.
As a neuropsychologist, Dr. Brennscheidt's clinical activity focuses on neuropsychological evaluations of persons with traumatic brain injuries and other central nervous system disorders (hydrocephalus, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis); non-central nervous system medical conditions (cancer, cardiac disorders, sleep apnea, Type II diabetes, obesity); and psychiatric disorders.
As a rehabilitation psychologist, Dr. Brennscheidt provides psychological services to persons with chronic illness or traumatic injuries including brain injury, stroke, chronic pain, amputations, and spinal cord injury.
Outside of work, Dr. Brennscheidt's personal interests include traveling, motorcycling, reading, and the Chicago Symphony. Her most memorable success story is completion of a two-week trapeze course during which she learned how to work with a catcher (She has the photos to prove it!).
Her favorite quote is:
"Don't aim at success - the more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side-effect of one's personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one's surrender to a person other than oneself." - Victor Frankl
